The Google Pixel 4a has a general score of 82.9, which is a little bit better than the Google Pixel 3a XL's global score of 78.9. The Google Pixel 4a body has the same thickness than Google Pixel 3a XL, but it is lighter. These phones have the same Android 11 OS, so they should give you the same operating system features.
Google Pixel 4a has a bit more powerful processing unit than Google Pixel 3a XL, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Google Pixel 4a also has a greater amount of RAM. The Google Pixel 4a features a bit more vivid screen than Google Pixel 3a XL, because although it has a bit smaller screen, it also counts with a little bit more pixels per inch in the display and a quite better 1080 x 2340px resolution.
Google Pixel 4a counts with much more storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Google Pixel 3a XL, because it has 128 GB internal storage. Google Pixel 3a XL counts with longer battery lifetime than Google Pixel 4a, because it has an 18 percent larger battery capacity. Google Pixel 4a has a camera that's just as good as Google Pixel 3a XL's camera, and although the Google Pixel 4a has a bigger aperture to capture better photography and video in low-light situations, they both have the same 30 frames per second video frame rate, a 12.2 megapixels camera, a 0.39 inches camera sensor and the same video definition.
Although Google Pixel 4a is a better device, it costs a lot more than Google Pixel 3a XL, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Google Pixel 3a XL. If you want to save some dollars, you can get the Google Pixel 3a XL, giving up a few features and specs, but you will get the most with your savings.
