The Xperia 1 III has a score of 93.3, which is much better than Google Pixel 3a XL's overall score of 78.9. Both phones in this comparison use the same Android 11 operating system, so you shouldn't notice any difference in that aspect. The Xperia 1 III design has the same thickness than the Google Pixel 3a XL, but it's somewhat heavier.
Sony Xperia 1 III counts with a much better screen than Google Pixel 3a XL, because it has a way higher screen density, a way better 1644 x 3840 resolution and a little larger screen.
