Xperia 1 III is just a bit better than the Google Pixel 4a 5G, getting a global score of 93.3 against 87.5. Xperia 1 III is a somewhat heavier cellphone than the Google Pixel 4a 5G, but both have the same thickness. Both phones in this review have the same Android 11 OS (operating system). The Xperia 1 III features a bit better processing power than Google Pixel 4a 5G, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Xperia 1 III also has 6 GB more RAM memory.
Sony Xperia 1 III has a brighter display than Google Pixel 4a 5G, because it has a lot higher 1644 x 3840 pixels resolution, a little larger display and a lot greater pixel density. Sony Xperia 1 III takes clearer photos and videos than Google Pixel 4a 5G, because although it has a lesser megapixels back camera and a lower 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, and they both have a same size diafragm aperture, the Sony Xperia 1 III also counts with a way larger sensor capturing more light and vivid colors.
Xperia 1 III counts with a superior storage capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Google Pixel 4a 5G, because it has 128 GB more internal storage and a SD memory card expansion slot that supports up to 1 TB. Xperia 1 III counts with a bit superior battery lifetime than Google Pixel 4a 5G, because it has a 16 percent larger battery size.
Although Sony Xperia 1 III is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Google Pixel 4a 5G, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Google Pixel 4a 5G. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy the Sony Xperia 1 III, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the Google Pixel 4a 5G, letting go a couple features and specifications.
