The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge features a very superior battery lifetime than HTC Desire 500, because it has a 3000mAh battery capacity against 1800mAh.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge takes greater videos and photos than HTC Desire 500, because although it has a smaller diafragm aperture which is not so good for capturing photos and video in poorly lited environments, it also counts with a back camera with a lot better resolution and a way higher (4K) video quality.
