Xperia L1 is slightly better than the HTC Desire 520, having a 64.4 score against 58.9. Both of these phones use Android OS, but the Xperia L1 has the newer 7.0 Nougat version while HTC Desire 520 has Android 5.1 version, so it gives you some extra features. The Xperia L1 is a newer and just a little bit thinner cellphone than the HTC Desire 520, but it is also noticeably heavier.
