Comparison review
The Asus ROG Phone is a little bit better than the HTC One (M8), getting a 77.1 score against 71.9. The Asus ROG Phone is a notably newer and a little thinner device than HTC One (M8), but it is heavier. The HTC One (M8) counts with a slightly better looking display than Asus ROG Phone, because although it has a little smaller screen and a bit worse resolution of 1920 x 1080px, it also counts with a quite better count of pixels in each inch of screen.
Asus ROG Phone features a much greater storage for apps and games than HTC One (M8), because although it has no external SD slot, it also counts with 512 GB internal memory capacity. Asus ROG Phone has a little faster processor than HTC One (M8), because although it has doesn't have a graphics processor, it also counts with more cores and 6 GB more RAM memory.
The Asus ROG Phone counts with a much better battery lifetime than HTC One (M8), because it has a 54 percent more battery size. HTC One (M8) shoots much clearer pictures and videos than Asus ROG Phone, although it has a tinier camera aperture which is not recommended for capturing photos or video in low-light situations and a smaller camera sensor capturing less light and dull colors, they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition and the same 60 frames per second video frame rate.
Although Asus ROG Phone is a better device, it is way more expensive than the HTC One (M8), and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the HTC One (M8). So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy the Asus ROG Phone, otherwise you can save some dollars and buy the HTC One (M8), giving up some features and specifications.
