Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus has a score of 78.1, which is a bit better than HTC One (M8)'s general score of 71.6. These phones work with Android operating system, but Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus has older 4.4.2 version while HTC One (M8) has Android 5.0 version. Even when Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus and HTC One (M8) were released with only 3 months difference, Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus is thinner and just a little bit lighter.

HTC One (M8) and Galaxy S5 Plus both count with really similar screens, because although the Galaxy S5 Plus has a little bit worse display density, and they both have exactly the same 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, it also counts with a quite bigger display. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus features a little bit better performance than HTC One (M8), and although they both have 4 processing cores and the same RAM memory amount, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus also has a faster 500 MHz graphics processor.

Galaxy S5 Plus shoots much better pictures and videos than HTC One (M8), because although it has a smaller aperture which is not nice for shooting images and/or video in low-light situations, it also counts with a way better 3840x2160 video resolution, a back-facing camera with a much better 16 mega-pixels resolution and a bigger camera sensor providing a higher image quality.

HTC One (M8) counts with a superior storage for apps and games than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, and although they both have a SD extension slot that supports a maximum of 128 GB, the HTC One (M8) also has 16 GB more internal storage. The Galaxy S5 Plus counts with a bit better battery lifetime than HTC One (M8), because it has a 2800mAh battery size.

The Galaxy S5 Plus not only is the best devices of the ones we compare here, but it's also cheap compared to the HTC One (M8).
