Galaxy S8 has a general score of 81.7, which is a little bit better than HTC One M9's overall score of 77.7. The Galaxy S8 body is noticeably newer, a bit lighter and somewhat thinner than HTC One M9. HTC One M9 has a bit sharper screen than Galaxy S8, although it has a little worse pixel count per inch in the screen, a way lower 1920 x 1080 resolution and a little smaller screen.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a much greater storage capacity for games and applications than HTC One M9, because it has 64 GB internal storage and a SD card slot that allows a maximum of 256 GB. The Galaxy S8 has a bit superior battery duration than HTC One M9, because it has a 6% bigger battery size.
