Comparison review

Xperia 1 has a global score of 82.6, which is a little bit better than the HTC One M9's 77.7 global score. Although Xperia 1 is heavier than HTC One M9, it's somewhat thinner and newer. HTC One M9 has a bit better hardware performance than Xperia 1, because although it has lesser RAM memory, and they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the HTC One M9 also counts with an additional graphics processing unit and a 64 bits processing unit.

Xperia 1 has a little more vivid display than HTC One M9, because it has a bigger screen, a lot better resolution of 1644 x 3840 pixels and a higher pixel quantity in each inch of display. The Sony Xperia 1 has a much bigger storage for games and applications than HTC One M9, because it has an external memory card slot that supports a maximum of 512 GB and 128 GB internal storage capacity.

Sony Xperia 1 counts with better battery lifetime than HTC One M9, because it has a 17 percent bigger battery capacity. The HTC One M9 captures just a bit better pictures and videos than Xperia 1, because although it has a lot tinier aperture which is not good for taking photographs and video in poorly lited environments, and they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the HTC One M9 also counts with a back camera with a way better 20 megapixels resolution, a larger back-facing camera sensor shooting better quality pictures and videos and faster video frame rate.

Although Xperia 1 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the HTC One M9, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the HTC One M9. So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy Xperia 1, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the HTC One M9, letting go a couple specifications.
