Xperia 1 II has a general score of 91, which is better than HTC One M9's overall score of 77.7. These phones have Android operating system, but the Xperia 1 II has newer 11 version and HTC One M9 has Android 5.0 version, counting with lots of additional features and some performance improvements. The Xperia 1 II design is a lot newer and thinner than HTC One M9's, but it is somewhat heavier.

The HTC One M9 counts with a slightly better looking screen than Sony Xperia 1 II, although it has a lot less pixels per screen inch, a much smaller screen and a way lower resolution of 1920 x 1080. The HTC One M9 counts with a bit faster processing unit than Sony Xperia 1 II, because although it has a lower amount of RAM, and they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the HTC One M9 also counts with a 64-bit processing unit and a graphics co-processor.

Xperia 1 II has a lot bigger memory capacity to store more games and applications than HTC One M9, because it has 256 GB internal storage and a SD card slot that supports up to 1000 GB. Xperia 1 II has a really longer battery life than HTC One M9, because it has a 4000mAh battery capacity. Xperia 1 II takes just a bit better photographs and videos than HTC One M9, because although it has a lot worse resolution camera in the back and a lower (4K) video quality, it also counts with a lot larger sensor and a much larger camera aperture for better captures and video in low light environments.
