Comparison review
Huawei Mate 20 Pro is slightly better than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, getting a global score of 82.9 against 77.5. Huawei Mate 20 Pro's construction is newer and lighter, but also somewhat thicker than Xiaomi Mi Max 2. Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with a sharper display than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and although they both have a same size screen, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also has a lot more pixels per display inch and a much better 1440 x 3120 resolution.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2 counts with much more memory for games and applications than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and although they both have the same internal memory, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 also has a SD extension slot that admits a maximum of 128 GB. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro counts with a bit superior CPU than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and although they both have 8 cores, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also has a higher amount of RAM.
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has better battery life than Huawei Mate 20 Pro, because it has 5300mAh of battery capacity. Huawei Mate 20 Pro shoots way better videos and photos than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and although they both have the same video frame rates and the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro also has a bigger aperture, a back-facing camera with much more mega-pixels and a lot larger sensor which provides a way better image and video quality.
Although Huawei Mate 20 Pro is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Xiaomi Mi Max 2. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Huawei Mate 20 Pro, otherwise you can save some money and get the Xiaomi Mi Max 2, letting go some specifications.
