Comparison review
Xperia 1 is just a bit better than Huawei Mate 20, getting an 82.6 score against 79.5. Even when the Xperia 1 and the Huawei Mate 20 were released only 7 months apart, the Xperia 1 is a little thinner and just a little lighter. The Xperia 1 counts with a bit more vivid display than Huawei Mate 20, because although it has a lot more opaque screen, and they both have a display of the same size, the Xperia 1 also counts with much more pixels per inch of display and a way better 1644 x 3840 resolution.
The Xperia 1 has a bit better CPU than Huawei Mate 20, and although they both have a Octa-Core processor, the Xperia 1 also has 2 GB more RAM memory. Sony Xperia 1 counts with much more storage capacity for applications and games than Huawei Mate 20, and although they both have equal 128 GB internal memory, the Sony Xperia 1 also has a SD memory slot that supports a maximum of 512 GB.
The Huawei Mate 20 captures clearer pictures and videos than Xperia 1, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not recommended for low light photography, and they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution and a same resolution camera in the back, the Huawei Mate 20 also counts with a bigger camera sensor which offers a higher photo and video quality and better video frame rate.
Huawei Mate 20 has longer battery life than Xperia 1, because it has 4000mAh of battery capacity.
Although Xperia 1 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Huawei Mate 20, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Huawei Mate 20. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can get the Huawei Mate 20, letting go a few features and specs, but you'll get the most with your budget.
