The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is better than the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, getting a general score of 90.9 against 79.8. The Huawei Mate 40 Pro is a noticeably newer phone than Sony Xperia XZ Premium, although it is somewhat thicker and a bit heavier. Xperia XZ Premium has a much more vibrant display than Huawei Mate 40 Pro, because although it has a little smaller display, it also counts with a much higher 2160 x 3840px resolution and a way higher display density.
