Huawei Mate 9 Pro is just a bit better than Huawei Mate 8, getting a 78.7 score against 77.4. Huawei Mate 9 Pro's design is newer, just a bit thinner and just a little lighter than the Huawei Mate 8. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro features a more vivid screen than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a higher resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and more pixels per inch in the screen.
The Huawei Mate 8 has a much bigger memory to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and although they both have equal 128 GB internal memory capacity, the Huawei Mate 8 also has a SD memory card expansion slot that admits a maximum of 128 GB. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro features a little better performance than Huawei Mate 8, and although they both have 8 processing cores, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro also has more RAM memory.
Huawei Mate 9 Pro's battery performance is just as good as Huawei Mate 8's battery performance. Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a slightly better camera than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has a smaller aperture and a back facing camera with lot less mega-pixels resolution, it also counts with a way higher (4K) video definition.
Although Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a better device, it costs a bit more money than the Huawei Mate 8, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Huawei Mate 8. If you prefer to save a few dollars, you can buy Huawei Mate 8, letting go a couple features and specs, but you will get the most with your budget.
