Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a global score of 78.7, which is a little bit better than Huawei Mate 8's 77.4 general score. Huawei Mate 9 Pro's construction is newer, a little lighter and just a little bit thinner than the Huawei Mate 8. Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a brighter display than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a better pixels density and a better resolution of 1440 x 2560px.
Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a little faster processing unit than Huawei Mate 8, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro also has a larger amount of RAM. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro counts with just a bit better camera than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has a lot lower 12 mega-pixels resolution back facing camera and a smaller aperture, it also counts with a lot better 3840x2160 video resolution.
Huawei Mate 8 counts with much more memory to install games and applications than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and although they both have the same 128 GB internal storage capacity, the Huawei Mate 8 also has an external SD slot that supports a maximum of 128 GB. The Huawei Mate 8 counts with a battery lifetime that is very similar to Huawei Mate 9 Pro's battery life.
Although Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a better device, it is a bit more expensive than the Huawei Mate 8, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Huawei Mate 8. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Huawei Mate 9 Pro, but if you don't you can save some money and buy the Huawei Mate 8, letting go a couple features and specifications.
