Huawei P40 has a global score of 86.4, which is much better than Huawei Mate 9's 73.4 general score. The Huawei P40 is a newer and a little bit lighter phone than Huawei Mate 9, although it's just a bit thicker. Huawei P40 has a bit better performance than Huawei Mate 9, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Huawei P40 also has 2 GB more RAM memory.
Huawei P40 features a bit better display than Huawei Mate 9, because it has a bit higher resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, a little bit larger screen and a little bit more pixels per inch in the display. The Huawei P40 has a very superior camera than Huawei Mate 9, and although they both have the same video frame rates and the same 3840x2160 video quality, the Huawei P40 also has a larger camera aperture to capture better low-light photography and videos, a way more mega-pixels back facing camera and a way larger camera sensor taking much higher quality videos and photographs.
The Huawei Mate 9 counts with a bit more storage capacity for apps and games than Huawei P40, because although it has less internal storage capacity, it also counts with a SD memory card expansion slot that supports a maximum of 256 GB. The Huawei Mate 9 has a bit superior battery life than Huawei P40, because it has a 4000mAh battery size.
