Samsung Galaxy J8 is slightly better than the Huawei Mate 9, getting a general score of 76.7 against 73.4. Although Samsung Galaxy J8 is a bit thicker than Huawei Mate 9, it's just a little lighter and newer. The Huawei Mate 9 features a little faster CPU than Galaxy J8. Both have the same RAM amount and a Octa-Core CPU.
The Huawei Mate 9 has just a bit better display than Galaxy J8, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a greater number of pixels per inch in the display and a higher resolution of 1080 x 1920px. The Galaxy J8 has as much storage capacity for applications, games, photos and videos as the Huawei Mate 9 one, they have equal 64 GB internal storage and an external memory slot that supports a maximum of 256 GB.
The Galaxy J8 shoots much better videos and photos than Huawei Mate 9, and although they both have the same (Full HD) video definition and the same video frame rate, the Galaxy J8 also has a camera with a much higher 16 megapixels resolution, a bigger back-facing camera sensor which provides a better image and video quality and a lot bigger aperture to take better captures in low-light situations.
Huawei Mate 9 has a bit superior battery life than Galaxy J8, because it has a 14% greater battery capacity.
