The Huawei Mate X has a global score of 89.4, which is better than the Huawei Mate 8's general score of 77.4. Although the Huawei Mate X is a lot newer than the Huawei Mate 8, it is much thicker and much heavier. The Huawei Mate X has a bit sharper display than Huawei Mate 8, because it has a much bigger screen, a quite better amount of pixels per inch in the screen and a way higher resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels.
The Huawei Mate X counts with just a little better hardware performance than Huawei Mate 8, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Huawei Mate X also has a greater amount of RAM memory. The Huawei Mate X features much more storage capacity to install games and applications than Huawei Mate 8, because although it has no SD extension slot, it also counts with 512 GB internal storage capacity.
Huawei Mate X features just a bit longer battery performance than Huawei Mate 8, because it has 4500mAh of battery capacity. Huawei Mate 8 shoots a bit better photos and videos than Huawei Mate X, although it has a smaller aperture which is not favorable for taking photos and/or video in low light situations and a much lower resolution back camera.
Although Huawei Mate X is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Huawei Mate 8, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Huawei Mate 8. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy Huawei Mate X, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the Huawei Mate 8, resigning a couple features and specs.
