Moto Z3 Play has a score of 76.3, which is a little bit better than Huawei P20 Lite's 75.4 general score. Although Moto Z3 Play and Huawei P20 Lite were released with only a few months difference, Moto Z3 Play's construction is a little bit heavier but also a bit thinner than Huawei P20 Lite. Huawei P20 Lite has a little sharper screen than Moto Z3 Play, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a quite better 1080 x 2280 resolution and a just a bit more pixels per inch of display.
Motorola Moto Z3 Play features a much better storage for apps and games than Huawei P20 Lite, and although they both have the same internal storage, the Motorola Moto Z3 Play also has a slot for an SD memory card that admits up to 1,95 TB. Huawei P20 Lite features just a bit better performance than Moto Z3 Play. Both have the same number of cores and a 4 GB RAM memory.
The Huawei P20 Lite and the Moto Z3 Play have quite similar batteries performance. The Motorola Moto Z3 Play takes a little bit better pictures and videos than Huawei P20 Lite, because although it has a way worse 12 megapixels resolution back-facing camera, it also counts with a much higher 3840x2160 video definition and a way larger aperture to take better low-light captures and video.
Although Motorola Moto Z3 Play is a better device, it costs a lot more than Huawei P20 Lite, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Huawei P20 Lite. If you want to save some dollars, you can buy the Huawei P20 Lite, and give up some specs and features, but you will get the most with your savings.
