Comparison review
Huawei Mate 20 has a score of 79.5, which is a bit better than the Huawei P40 Lite's 79.5 general score. Huawei Mate 20 is an older and a little heavier phone than the Huawei P40 Lite, but Huawei managed to build it a little bit thinner anyway. These phones use Android OS (operating system), but Huawei Mate 20 has the newer 9.0 Pie version while Huawei P40 Lite has Android 10 version.
The Huawei Mate 20 features a bit better screen than Huawei P40 Lite, because although it has a little worse pixels density and a little lower 1080 x 2244 resolution, it also counts with a bit bigger display. Huawei Mate 20 has a bit faster processing unit than Huawei P40 Lite, although it has a smaller amount of RAM, they both have the same number of cores.
Huawei P40 Lite takes slightly better photos and videos than Huawei Mate 20, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video resolution, the same 30 fps video frame rates and the same aperture, the Huawei P40 Lite also has a back camera with a much higher resolution and a bigger sensor capturing higher quality videos and photos.
The Huawei Mate 20 and Huawei P40 Lite feature really similar memory for applications, games, photos and videos, they have the same internal memory. Huawei P40 Lite features just a bit longer battery lifetime than Huawei Mate 20, because it has 4200mAh of battery capacity.
Although Huawei Mate 20 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Huawei P40 Lite, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Huawei P40 Lite. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy Huawei Mate 20, else you can save a couple dollars and buy the Huawei P40 Lite, letting go some specifications.
