Microsoft Surface Duo is a little bit better than Moto Z2 Play, having a general score of 78.8 against 77.4. The Microsoft Surface Duo body is much newer and way thinner than Moto Z2 Play's, but it is much heavier. Microsoft Surface Duo has a bit sharper display than Moto Z2 Play, and although they both have a higher pixels amount in each inch in the display, the Microsoft Surface Duo also has a lot better 1800 x 2700 resolution and a really larger screen.
The Motorola Moto Z2 Play has a lot bigger storage capacity to store more games and applications than Microsoft Surface Duo, because although it has just 64 GB internal memory, it also counts with a slot for an external memory card that supports up to 1,95 TB. Microsoft Surface Duo features a bit superior processing unit than Moto Z2 Play, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Microsoft Surface Duo also has more RAM.
Microsoft Surface Duo counts with superior battery duration than Moto Z2 Play, because it has 3577mAh of battery capacity. Motorola Moto Z2 Play shoots a little bit better photographs and videos than Microsoft Surface Duo, because although it has lower video frame rates, and they both have the same (4K) video quality, the Motorola Moto Z2 Play also counts with a camera in the back with more mega pixels and a bigger aperture for better photography and videos in low-light environments.
Although Microsoft Surface Duo is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Motorola Moto Z2 Play. So if you want that extra features, you can buy the Microsoft Surface Duo, else you can save a couple dollars and buy the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, giving up some features and specs.
