The Motorola Edge 40 Pro has a general score of 83.4, which is a bit better than Xperia Z5 Premium's 79.8 score. These phones come with Android operating system, but the Motorola Edge 40 Pro has a newer 13 version while Xperia Z5 Premium has Android 5.1 version, so it gives you a couple nice extra features. Even though the Motorola Edge 40 Pro is noticeably newer than Xperia Z5 Premium, it's a little heavier and just a little bit thicker.

The Xperia Z5 Premium has a lot better hardware performance than Motorola Edge 40 Pro, because although it has lesser RAM, and they both have a Octa-Core processor, the Xperia Z5 Premium also counts with an additional graphics processing unit. The Xperia Z5 Premium has a much better screen than Motorola Edge 40 Pro, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a much greater display density and a way better resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

The Motorola Edge 40 Pro features a very superior memory for applications and games than Xperia Z5 Premium, because although it has no slot for an external memory card, it also counts with 256 GB internal storage capacity. Motorola Edge 40 Pro features greater battery duration than Xperia Z5 Premium, because it has 4600mAh of battery capacity instead of 3430mAh.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro captures much better photographs and videos than Xperia Z5 Premium, and although they both have the same aperture, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro also has a much bigger back-facing camera sensor taking lot better quality pictures and videos, a way higher video resolution and a way higher 50 mega pixels resolution camera in the back.
