Moto Z2 Play is an noticeably older device than Motorola Edge 40, but Motorola could make it somewhat lighter and extremely thinner anyway. The Motorola Edge 40 counts with a better looking display than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, because it has a larger display, a little higher 1080 x 2400 resolution and a just a little more pixels per display inch.
Motorola Moto Z2 Play has a much better performing CPU than Motorola Edge 40, although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory, they both have a Octa-Core processor. The Moto Z2 Play features a very superior memory for games and applications than Motorola Edge 40, because although it has only 64 GB internal storage, it also counts with an external SD slot that supports up to 1,95 TB.
The Motorola Edge 40 shoots much clearer videos and photos than Moto Z2 Play, and although they both have the same (4K) video definition and the same video frame rates, the Motorola Edge 40 also has a much higher 50 mega-pixels resolution back-facing camera and a bigger diafragm aperture to take better images in low light situations.
Motorola Edge 40 has a much longer battery duration than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, because it has a 4400mAh battery size instead of 3000mAh.
