Comparison review

The Galaxy Note8 is slightly better than the Motorola Edge 40, getting a general score of 83 against 77.2. Both devices in this comparison come with Android OS (Operating System), but the Galaxy Note8 has a more recent 9.0 Pie version and Motorola Edge 40 has Android 13, so it provides you a couple nice extra features. The Galaxy Note8 body is older, thicker and somewhat heavier than the Motorola Edge 40.

The Motorola Edge 40 has a bit sharper display than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because although it has a way worse resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a just a bit worse quantity of pixels per inch in the screen, it also counts with a little bigger screen. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 features a much better performing processing unit than Motorola Edge 40, although it has 2 GB lesser RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.

The Motorola Edge 40 has a much better camera than Galaxy Note8, and although they both have the same (4K) video resolution and the same video frame rate, the Motorola Edge 40 also has a way bigger camera sensor which gives a much better photo and video quality, a back-facing camera with a way higher 50 mega pixels resolution and a larger aperture.

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 counts with just a bit more storage to install applications and games than Motorola Edge 40, because although it has less internal storage, it also counts with a slot for an external memory card that allows a maximum of 256 GB. Motorola Edge 40 has better battery lifetime than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because it has a 4400mAh battery size instead of 3300mAh.
