Galaxy M40 has an overall score of 85, which is just a bit better than the Motorola Moto G9 Plus's global score of 80.5. Both of these devices use the same Android 10 operating system. Galaxy M40's body is thinner and much lighter than the Motorola Moto G9 Plus, despite of the fact that it was released only 15 months before.

Galaxy M40 features a bit better display than Moto G9 Plus, because although it has a bit lower 1080 x 2340 resolution and a bit smaller screen, it also counts with a bit more pixels per inch of screen. The Galaxy M40 and Motorola Moto G9 Plus have really similar processing units, and although the Galaxy M40 has 2 GB more RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.

The Samsung Galaxy M40's storage capacity to store more apps and games is just as good as the Motorola Moto G9 Plus one, they have an external SD slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB and exactly the same internal storage. Moto G9 Plus counts with a superior camera than Galaxy M40, because although it has a smaller aperture, and they both have the same video definition and the same 30 frames per second video frame rates, the Moto G9 Plus also counts with a way larger sensor which offers a lot higher photo and video quality and a back facing camera with much more megapixels.

Moto G9 Plus counts with a superior battery lifetime than Samsung Galaxy M40, because it has 5000mAh of battery capacity.
