The Galaxy A40 is a bit better than Moto X (2014), getting a 79.6 score against 73.4. These phones include Android operating system, but the Galaxy A40 has a newer 11 version and Moto X (2014) has Android 5.0, offering a couple additional features and increased performance. Galaxy A40 is a a lot newer cellphone, and it is also thinner and a little bit lighter than Moto X (2014).

The Motorola Moto X (2014) counts with a little faster processor than Galaxy A40, because although it has less cores (although faster) and 2 GB lesser RAM memory, it also counts with an additional graphics processing unit.
The Galaxy A40 counts with a camera that's just as good as the camera in Moto X (2014), and although the Galaxy A40 has a much bigger aperture to take better low-light photography, a higher 16 mega-pixels resolution back camera and a bigger back-facing camera sensor taking higher quality videos and pictures, they both have the same 30 fps video frame rates and the same (Full HD) video quality.
The Samsung Galaxy A40 has a much greater storage to install applications and games than Moto X (2014), because it has 64 GB internal storage and a SD memory slot that admits up to 512 GB. The Samsung Galaxy A40 features a very superior battery performance than Motorola Moto X (2014), because it has 3100mAh of battery capacity.
