The Xperia 1 is better than the Motorola Moto X (2014), getting an 82.6 score against 73.4. Xperia 1's body is newer and somewhat thinner, but somewhat heavier than Motorola Moto X (2014). The Xperia 1 counts with a bit better looking display than Moto X (2014), because it has a way higher resolution of 1644 x 3840 pixels, a much higher pixels density and a larger display.

Sony Xperia 1 has a lot bigger storage to install games and applications than Motorola Moto X (2014), because it has a SD extension slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB and more internal memory. Xperia 1 has a bit faster CPU than Motorola Moto X (2014), because although it has doesn't have an extra GPU, it also counts with 4 GB more RAM memory and a higher number of faster cores.

Xperia 1 features a way better battery performance than Moto X (2014), because it has 3330mAh of battery capacity. Sony Xperia 1 takes slightly better pictures and videos than Motorola Moto X (2014), because although it has a camera with a worse 12 MP resolution and a worse video quality, it also counts with a lot bigger diafragm aperture to take better images in low-light situations and a bigger camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors.
