The HTC One M9 is just a bit better than the Moto X Pure Edition (2015), with a general score of 77.7 against 74.1. HTC One M9's design is somewhat thinner and somewhat lighter than the Moto X Pure Edition (2015), even though both of them were released with only a couple of months difference. The HTC One M9 features a little sharper screen than Moto X Pure Edition (2015), although it has a just a little lower amount of pixels per inch in the display, a lot lower resolution of 1920 x 1080px and a quite smaller display.

HTC One M9 counts with a quite superior processing power than Motorola Moto X Pure Edition (2015), and although they both have 3 GB of RAM memory, the HTC One M9 also has a greater number of cores, a 64-bit processing unit and a graphics processor. The Motorola Moto X Pure Edition (2015) counts with just a bit better camera than HTC One M9, and although they both have the same video frame rate, a same size back camera sensor and the same video resolution, the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition (2015) also has a larger aperture to take better low light captures and a better 21 mega pixels resolution back-facing camera.

The Moto X Pure Edition (2015) counts with a much greater memory capacity to store more games and applications than HTC One M9, and although they both have a slot for an external memory card that holds a maximum of 128 GB, the Moto X Pure Edition (2015) also has 64 GB internal storage capacity. Motorola Moto X Pure Edition (2015) features a little longer battery performance than HTC One M9, because it has a 3000mAh battery size against 2840mAh.
