The Motorola Moto G9 Play is slightly better than the Moto X4, getting a 76.7 score against 74.4. Motorola Moto G9 Play's design is newer, but heavier and thicker than Moto X4. Moto X4 has a bit faster processing unit than Motorola Moto G9 Play, although it has 1 GB less RAM, they both have the same number of cores.
Moto X4 has a much better looking screen than Motorola Moto G9 Play, because although it has a way smaller screen, it also counts with a lot better pixels density and a better resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Motorola Moto G9 Play takes much clearer videos and photos than Motorola Moto X4, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 (Full HD) video definition, the Motorola Moto G9 Play also has a much bigger back-facing camera sensor capturing lot better quality pictures, a bigger aperture to take better low light captures and videos, a camera with lot more mega-pixels and better video frame rates.
Moto G9 Play features a very superior battery duration than Moto X4, because it has a 5000mAh battery size against 3000mAh.
