The Xperia 1 III is a lot better than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, having a 93.3 score against 77.4. The Xperia 1 III is a notably newer cellphone than the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, but it's noticeably heavier and a lot thicker. Xperia 1 III features a sharper display than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, because it has a way better 1644 x 3840 resolution, a bigger screen and a much greater pixel density.

The Sony Xperia 1 III has a superior memory capacity to install applications and games than Moto Z2 Play, because although it has a slot for external memory cards that supports 976 GB smaller, it also counts with more internal storage capacity. Sony Xperia 1 III has a bit more powerful processor than Moto Z2 Play, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Sony Xperia 1 III also has a greater amount of RAM memory.
