The Xperia Z5 Premium is just a bit better than the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, getting a global score of 79.8 against 77.4. The Xperia Z5 Premium design is older, heavier and a lot thicker than Motorola Moto Z2 Play. The Xperia Z5 Premium counts with a little better performance than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory, and they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Xperia Z5 Premium also counts with an additional graphics processing unit.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium features a much better looking screen than Moto Z2 Play, and although they both have a display with the same size, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also has a way higher 3840 x 2160 resolution and a lot better pixel density. Moto Z2 Play features a much bigger storage for games and applications than Xperia Z5 Premium, because it has 64 GB internal memory and a slot for an external memory card that allows up to 1,95 TB.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has a superior camera than Moto Z2 Play, because although it has a tinier aperture which is not favorable for low light captures and videos, and they both have the same video resolution and the same 30 frames per second video frame rate, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium also counts with a back-facing camera with a much better 23 megapixels resolution.

The Xperia Z5 Premium counts with just a little bit longer battery duration than Moto Z2 Play, because it has a 3430mAh battery size against 3000mAh.

Although Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Motorola Moto Z2 Play. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, but if you don't you can save a couple dollars and buy the Motorola Moto Z2 Play, letting go some features and specs.
