The Moto Z3 is a little bit better than Moto Z2 Play, with a 77.6 score against 77.4. Moto Z3's body is newer, but just a little bit heavier and thicker than Moto Z2 Play. The Moto Z3 features just a bit better hardware performance than Moto Z2 Play. Both have 4 GB of RAM and a Octa-Core processor.
The Motorola Moto Z3 features a slightly better looking display than Moto Z2 Play, because it has a quite better resolution of 1080 x 2160, a little bigger display and a little greater number of pixels in each inch in the screen. The Moto Z3 counts with a bit better camera than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, although it has a tinier aperture which is not recommended for low-light images, they both have the same video frame rates, a camera with a 12 megapixels resolution and the same video resolution.
Moto Z2 Play's storage capacity for apps and games is very similar to Moto Z3's one, both have a SD memory slot that allows up to 1,95 TB and equal 64 GB internal memory capacity. Moto Z2 Play and Motorola Moto Z3 feature similar batteries performance.
Although Moto Z3 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Moto Z2 Play, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Moto Z2 Play. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can buy the Moto Z2 Play, letting go a few features and specs, but you will get the most out of your budget.
