Xperia 1 has a brighter screen than Moto Z3, because it has a little bigger screen, a lot better 1644 x 3840 pixels resolution and a way better screen density.

The Moto Z3 counts with a little bit more memory for games and applications than Xperia 1, because although it has less internal memory, it also counts with an external memory slot that allows up to 1,95 TB. The Xperia 1 has a bit better processor than Moto Z3, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Xperia 1 also has a higher amount of RAM memory.

Sony Xperia 1 features a bit better battery life than Motorola Moto Z3, because it has an 11% bigger battery capacity. The Sony Xperia 1 has a bit better camera than Motorola Moto Z3, because although it has lower video frame rate, and they both have the same resolution back facing camera and the same (4K) video resolution, the Sony Xperia 1 also counts with a larger back camera sensor providing a better image quality and a bigger aperture.

Although Sony Xperia 1 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Moto Z3, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Moto Z3. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can buy the Moto Z3, letting go a few features and specs, but you'll get the most out of your savings.
