The Huawei P40 Pro is a little bit better than the Galaxy A42, getting an 88.2 score against 87. Although it's the best cellphone in this review, we must note that it's also just a little heavier and a bit thicker. Both of these phones include Android OS (operating system), but the Huawei P40 Pro has the previous 10 version while Galaxy A42 has Android 11.
The Huawei P40 Pro counts with a sharper display than Galaxy A42, and although they both have a screen of the same size, the Huawei P40 Pro also has a much higher resolution of 1200 x 2640 and way more pixels per screen inch. Samsung Galaxy A42 has a much better memory capacity for applications and games than Huawei P40 Pro, and although they both have the same internal memory capacity, the Samsung Galaxy A42 also has a slot for an external memory card that supports a maximum of 1000 GB.
The Huawei P40 Pro counts with a bit superior processing unit than Galaxy A42, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Huawei P40 Pro also has 4 GB more RAM. The Huawei P40 Pro shoots better photographs and videos than Galaxy A42, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not favorable for taking photographs and/or video in poorly lited environments, and they both have the same (4K) video definition, the Huawei P40 Pro also counts with a camera with a higher resolution and faster 60 fps video frame rate.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 features improved battery lifetime than Huawei P40 Pro, because it has a 19 percent larger battery size.
