Galaxy A42 is much better than the Galaxy A5 (2017), with an 87 score against 75.8. Galaxy A42 is a much newer phone than Galaxy A5 (2017), but it is just a bit thicker and somewhat heavier. The Samsung Galaxy A42 has a bit better CPU than Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Samsung Galaxy A42 also has more RAM memory.
The Galaxy A5 (2017) features a sharper display than Galaxy A42, because although it has a lot smaller display, it also counts with a way greater pixels quantity per inch of display and a better resolution of 1080 x 1920px. Samsung Galaxy A42 takes a lot better pictures and videos than Galaxy A5 (2017), because it has a way higher (4K) video quality, a larger aperture to take better low-light captures and video and a lot higher 48 megapixels resolution back facing camera.
