Galaxy A5 (2017) has a general score of 75.8, which is a bit better than the Galaxy J7 (2018)'s 72.5 general score. Even though Galaxy A5 (2017) is older than Galaxy J7 (2018), it's construction is just a little bit thinner and lighter. The Galaxy A5 (2017) features a bit faster CPU than Galaxy J7 (2018), and although they both have a Octa-Core processing unit, the Galaxy A5 (2017) also has a higher amount of RAM memory.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) features a better display than Samsung Galaxy J7 (2018), because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a way higher resolution of 1080 x 1920px and much more pixels per inch in the screen. Galaxy A5 (2017) shoots clearer photos and videos than Galaxy J7 (2018), because although it has a smaller aperture which is not nice for low-light images and video, and they both have the same video quality and the same 30 fps video frame rates, the Galaxy A5 (2017) also counts with a back facing camera with a better 16 megapixels resolution.
