Both phones in this comparison review use Android OS (Operating System), but Huawei Mate X has 9.0 Pie version while Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has Android 5.0 version, giving some nice extra features. Even though Huawei Mate X is much newer than Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it is extremely heavier and extremely thicker.

Huawei Mate X's processor is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 one, because although the Huawei Mate X has doesn't have a graphics processing unit, it also counts with 5 GB more RAM and a higher number of cores. Galaxy Note 4 counts with a brighter display than Huawei Mate X, because although it has a lot smaller screen and a little worse resolution of 2560 x 1440px, it also counts with a quite greater count of pixels per screen inch.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 counts with a superior camera than Huawei Mate X, although it has a much less mega pixels resolution camera, a lot smaller back-facing camera sensor and a smaller camera aperture which is worse for low-light images. The Huawei Mate X has a much better memory to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Galaxy Note 4, because although it has no SD memory card expansion slot, it also counts with more internal storage.

Huawei Mate X counts with a really longer battery duration than Galaxy Note 4, because it has a 40% bigger battery capacity.

Although Huawei Mate X is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Galaxy Note 4, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Galaxy Note 4. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Huawei Mate X, else you can save some dollars and get the Galaxy Note 4, giving up some specs and features.
