Galaxy Note8 is slightly better than the Galaxy Note 5, getting a general score of 83 against 79.3. Both devices in this comparison come with Android OS (operating system), but the Galaxy Note8 has a more recent 9.0 Pie version while Galaxy Note 5 has Android 5.1. Galaxy Note8 is a a lot newer phone than Galaxy Note 5, although it's thicker and somewhat heavier.
Galaxy Note 5 counts with just a bit better screen than Galaxy Note8, although it has a bit smaller screen, a little bit worse 2560 x 1440 resolution and a bit less pixels per inch of screen. Galaxy Note 5 captures just a bit better pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because although it has a smaller back-facing camera sensor capturing less light and washed colors and a smaller diafragm aperture which is not recommended for low light photos, and they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the Galaxy Note 5 also counts with a camera with a lot higher resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy Note8 costs a bit more than Galaxy Note 5, but you can get a better phone for that few more dollars.
