Huawei Mate X2's body is notably newer and just a bit thinner, but also heavier than Galaxy Note8.

The Samsung Galaxy Note8 features just a bit better display than Huawei Mate X2, because although it has a quite lower 1440 x 2960 resolution and a lot smaller screen, it also counts with a better pixels density.

Huawei Mate X2 has a much greater storage for apps and games than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because although it has no slot for SD memory cards, it also counts with 192 GB more internal storage. The Huawei Mate X2 captures much better photos and videos than Galaxy Note8, because although it has a smaller aperture which is worse for low light images and video, and they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate and the same (4K) video resolution, the Huawei Mate X2 also counts with a much more megapixels back camera.

The Huawei Mate X2 has improved battery performance than Galaxy Note8, because it has a 4500mAh battery capacity against 3300mAh.

Although Huawei Mate X2 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Galaxy Note8, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Galaxy Note8. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy the Huawei Mate X2, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Galaxy Note8, giving up a couple specifications.
