The Galaxy Note8 is slightly better than the Galaxy S4, getting a global score of 83 against 79. Both of these devices include Android OS, but Galaxy Note8 has newer 9.0 Pie version and Galaxy S4 has Android 4.4. The Galaxy Note8 design is noticeably newer, but notably heavier and a bit thicker than Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4 features a slightly better looking display than Samsung Galaxy Note8, although it has a really smaller screen, a way worse resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a bit lower pixels density. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 has just a little better performance than Galaxy S4, because although it has doesn't have a graphics processing unit, it also counts with a greater amount of RAM and a higher number of cores.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 counts with more storage capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy S4, and although they both have exactly the same 64 GB internal storage capacity, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 also has an external SD slot that admits up to 256 GB. The Galaxy Note8 captures a bit better videos and photos than Galaxy S4, because although it has a worse resolution camera, it also counts with a bigger sensor providing a higher image quality, a way larger diafragm aperture and a much better (4K) video resolution.

The Galaxy Note8 features greater battery performance than Galaxy S4, because it has 3300mAh of battery capacity against 2600mAh.

Although Galaxy Note8 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Galaxy S4, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Galaxy S4. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy Galaxy Note8, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Galaxy S4, letting go some features and specs.
