Xperia 5 II is a bit better than Samsung Galaxy Note8, having an 87.2 score against 83. Xperia 5 II's body is noticeably newer, a little bit thinner and somewhat lighter than Samsung Galaxy Note8. Samsung Galaxy Note8 features just a bit better looking display than Xperia 5 II, because it has a better resolution of 1440 x 2960 pixels, a bit larger screen and a bit greater screen pixel density.

The Sony Xperia 5 II features a little better processing power than Galaxy Note8, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Sony Xperia 5 II also has more RAM memory. Xperia 5 II counts with a much better memory to install games and applications than Samsung Galaxy Note8, because it has 128 GB internal memory capacity and a SD card slot that admits up to 1000 GB.

Xperia 5 II counts with a little bit better camera than Samsung Galaxy Note8, and although they both have a same resolution camera, a same size camera aperture and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the Xperia 5 II also has a lot bigger sensor capturing more light and vivid colors and higher video frame rates.

If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy the Galaxy Note8, and give up a few features and specifications, but you will get the most out of your budget.
