The Moto Z2 Play body is much newer and much thinner, but just a little bit heavier than Samsung Galaxy S III. Motorola Moto Z2 Play features a little better performance than Samsung Galaxy S III, because although it has doesn't have an extra graphics processor, it also counts with 2 GB more RAM and more cores.

The Samsung Galaxy S III features a little sharper screen than Motorola Moto Z2 Play, although it has a much lower resolution of 1280 x 720px, a quite worse count of pixels per screen inch and a bit smaller screen.
