Galaxy Alpha has an overall score of 76.3, which is slightly better than the Galaxy S III's 74.8 global score. Galaxy Alpha is a somewhat lighter and noticeably thinner phone than Galaxy S III. Both of these phones work with Android operating system, but Galaxy Alpha has the newer 4.4.4 version while Galaxy S III has Android 4.3.

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha features a little faster processing unit than Samsung Galaxy S III, although it has a worse GPU running at 450 megahertz, they both have a 2 GB RAM memory and the same number of cores. The Galaxy S III has a little sharper display than Samsung Galaxy Alpha, because although it has a just a little lower display density, and they both have exactly the same 1280 x 720 resolution, the Galaxy S III also counts with a little bit bigger screen.

The Galaxy S III counts with a way bigger storage capacity for apps and games than Samsung Galaxy Alpha, and although they both have the same 32 GB internal storage capacity, the Galaxy S III also has a SD memory slot that admits a maximum of 64 GB. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha features a superior camera than Samsung Galaxy S III, because it has a bigger aperture, a lot more mega pixels back camera and a much higher (4K) video quality.

The Galaxy S III counts with just a bit longer battery duration than Galaxy Alpha, because it has a 2100mAh battery capacity.

Although Samsung Galaxy Alpha is a better device, it is way more expensive than Samsung Galaxy S III, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Samsung Galaxy S III. If you are trying to save some dollars, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy S III, letting go some specs and features, but you'll get the most with your money.
