Comparison review
The Xperia 1 is a bit better than Galaxy S7 Active, having a global score of 82.6 against 75.8. The Xperia 1 construction is much newer, just a little lighter and somewhat thinner than Galaxy S7 Active. Sony Xperia 1 has a bit sharper screen than Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, because although it has way darker screen, it also counts with a just a little better number of pixels in each inch of display, a larger screen and a better resolution of 1644 x 3840 pixels.
Sony Xperia 1 has a much greater memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, because it has a slot for external memory cards that supports up to 512 GB and 96 GB more internal storage. Xperia 1 features a little better processing power than Galaxy S7 Active, because it has a larger number of cores (and faster) and a higher amount of RAM.
Sony Xperia 1 captures a bit better videos and photos than Galaxy S7 Active, because although it has worse video frame rate, and they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution and the same resolution camera in the back, the Sony Xperia 1 also counts with a larger diafragm aperture for better images and videos in low-light situations.
Galaxy S7 Active features better battery performance than Xperia 1, because it has a 4000mAh battery capacity.
Although Xperia 1 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can get the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active, and give up a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most out of your budget.
