The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is just a bit better than the Sony Xperia Z3, with a global score of 78.1 against 77.3. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge body is newer, thinner and a little lighter than the Sony Xperia Z3. These phones come with Android OS (operating system), but the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has a newer 8.0 Oreo version and Sony Xperia Z3 has Android 4.4.4 version, so it offers some nice extra features and performance optimizations.
Sony Xperia Z3 has just a bit better performance than Galaxy S7 edge, because although it has 1 GB less RAM, and they both have a Quad-Core processor, the Sony Xperia Z3 also counts with a graphics processor. The Sony Xperia Z3 counts with a much better screen than Galaxy S7 edge, although it has a little worse quantity of pixels per inch of screen, a way worse resolution of 1920 x 1080px and a little bit smaller display.
The Galaxy S7 edge counts with a slightly bigger memory to install games and applications than Xperia Z3, and although they both have exactly the same internal storage, the Galaxy S7 edge also has a SD memory card expansion slot that holds a maximum of 200 GB. Xperia Z3 shoots slightly better pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, because although it has a smaller aperture which is not nice for capturing pictures and/or video in low light situations, and they both have the same 30 fps video frame rate and the same (4K) video resolution, the Xperia Z3 also counts with a way more megapixels back facing camera and a larger camera sensor capturing better quality photographs and videos.
The Galaxy S7 edge features a bit longer battery lifetime than Sony Xperia Z3, because it has a 13% larger battery capacity.
Although Galaxy S7 edge is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Xperia Z3, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Xperia Z3. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy the Galaxy S7 edge, else you can save some dollars and buy the Xperia Z3, letting go some features and specs.
