The iPhone 12 Pro has a general score of 92.8, which is much better than the Galaxy S8 Active's global score of 81.9. IPhone 12 Pro's design is newer, noticeably thinner and just a bit lighter than the Galaxy S8 Active. IPhone 12 Pro counts with a greater performance than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, because although it has lesser CPU cores , it also counts with a greater amount of RAM memory and a 64-bits processing unit.
The Apple iPhone 12 Pro features a little sharper display than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, because although it has a bit worse resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels and a just a bit worse pixels density, it also counts with a quite larger screen. Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has a bit bigger storage to install applications and games than Apple iPhone 12 Pro, because although it has only 64 GB internal memory, it also counts with an external SD slot that admits a maximum of 256 GB.
Apple iPhone 12 Pro counts with just a bit better camera than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, and although they both have a back camera with a 12 mega-pixels and the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the Apple iPhone 12 Pro also has higher 60 fps video frame rate and a bigger aperture to take better images in poorly lited environments.

So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Apple iPhone 12 Pro, but if you don't you can save some money and get the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, giving up some specs and features.
