Xperia 5 II has a score of 87.2, which is slightly better than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active's 81.9 general score. The Xperia 5 II design is newer, extremely lighter and much thinner than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has a bit sharper display than Xperia 5 II, because although it has a little bit smaller screen, it also counts with a greater amount of pixels per inch of screen and a higher resolution of 1440 x 2960px.
Xperia 5 II counts with a much better storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, because it has more internal storage and a SD card slot that admits up to 1000 GB. Xperia 5 II counts with a little faster processor than Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, and although they both have 8 cores, the Xperia 5 II also has a greater amount of RAM.
Xperia 5 II counts with a slightly better camera than Galaxy S8 Active, and although they both have the same aperture, a same resolution camera in the back and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality, the Xperia 5 II also has a much bigger sensor capturing more light and vivid colors and faster 120 frames per second video frame rates.
The Sony Xperia 5 II's battery performance is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active one.
Although Xperia 5 II is a better device, it costs a lot more than the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy the Xperia 5 II, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and buy the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, letting go a couple specs and features.
