The Google Pixel 4a has a global score of 82.9, which is a bit better than Galaxy S8's 81.7 overall score. Even though the Google Pixel 4a is a little thicker than Galaxy S8, it's a little bit lighter and also noticeably newer. Google Pixel 4a and Galaxy S8 both have quite similar CPUs, and although the Google Pixel 4a has a greater amount of RAM, they both have 8 processing cores.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a little sharper display than Google Pixel 4a, and although they both have a screen of the same size, the Samsung Galaxy S8 also has a higher display density and a better 1440 x 2960 resolution. The Galaxy S8 has a bit more memory to store more games and applications than Google Pixel 4a, because although it has 0 less internal storage, it also counts with a slot for external memory cards that admits up to 256 GB.
The Google Pixel 4a features a bit better battery life than Galaxy S8, because it has a 3140mAh battery capacity against 3000mAh. The Google Pixel 4a's camera is just as good as the Galaxy S8 one, and although the Google Pixel 4a has a more mega pixels back camera, they both have the same 30 frames per second video frame rates, the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, a 0.39 inches sensor and the same diafragm aperture.
Although Google Pixel 4a is a better device, it costs a lot more than Galaxy S8, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Galaxy S8. If you are trying to save some money, you can get Galaxy S8, giving up a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most out of your money.
