Xperia XZ2 Premium has a general score of 82.2, which is a little bit better than Samsung Galaxy S8's general score of 81.7. The Xperia XZ2 Premium is a newer device than Samsung Galaxy S8, although it is way heavier and noticeably thicker. The Xperia XZ2 Premium counts with a brighter display than Galaxy S8, and although they both have a display of the same size, the Xperia XZ2 Premium also has a greater pixel density and a better resolution of 2160 x 3840.
The Xperia XZ2 Premium features a bit more powerful processor than Samsung Galaxy S8, and although they both have 8 cores, the Xperia XZ2 Premium also has more RAM. The Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium features a little bit better storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Galaxy S8, and although they both have equal 64 GB internal storage, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium also has a slot for external memory cards that admits up to 400 GB.
The Xperia XZ2 Premium counts with better battery performance than Galaxy S8, because it has a 3540mAh battery capacity against 3000mAh. Xperia XZ2 Premium features a bit better camera than Samsung Galaxy S8, because although it has a smaller diafragm aperture which is not nice for low light photography and videos, and they both have the same video frame rates and the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the Xperia XZ2 Premium also counts with a larger sensor capturing higher quality photographs and a back camera with much more mega-pixels.
Although Xperia XZ2 Premium is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy S8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Samsung Galaxy S8. So if you want that extra specs and features, you can buy Xperia XZ2 Premium, else you can save a couple dollars and buy the Samsung Galaxy S8, resigning some specs and features.
