Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is a bit better than Xperia 5 III, getting a 94.6 score against 90.5. Both of these phones use the same Android 11 OS (Operating System). Although Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Xperia 5 III were released with only 7 months difference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 design is a lot heavier but also thinner.
Galaxy Z Fold 2 has a bit better processing power than Xperia 5 III, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 also has more RAM memory. Sony Xperia 5 III counts with a bit better display than Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, because although it has a little lower resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels and a bit smaller screen, it also counts with a little bit better screen density.
The Xperia 5 III shoots just a bit better photographs and videos than Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, and although they both have the same video definition and a 12 mega-pixels resolution back facing camera, the Xperia 5 III also has a bigger sensor taking better quality pictures and videos, better 120 frames per second video frame rates and a larger aperture.

Sony Xperia 5 III has a battery performance that's very similar to the battery lifetime in Galaxy Z Fold 2.
